The International Tennis Federation (ITF) have released the schedule for the 2016 UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour, due to begin with the ITF 3 Series New Zealand Open in Auckland in January.

The calendar features wheelchair events at three of the four Grand Slams - the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon - as well as six Super Series competitions.

A tournament will not be held at the US Open due to a clash with the Paralympic Games, due to take place in Rio de Janeiro from September 7 to 18.

The first Super Series event of the year, the APIA International Wheelchair Open, is scheduled to take place from January 11 to 17 in Sydney, before it moves to Johannesburg for the ACSA SA Open from April 4 to 10.

The Japan Open, which will be held in Fukuoka, is the third Super Series competition on the calendar, due to take place for May 17 to 22.

The BNP Paribas French Open in Paris is set to tek place from June 21 to 26.

Nottingham in England will play host to the fifth Super Series tournament on July 26 to 31, before the Series concludes with the US Open Championships in St. Louis, taking place from October 3 to 9.

There will be plenty of opportunities for the world’s top wheelchair tennis players to prepare for the Paralympics, with an extensive list of events spanning the globe.

The packed season is due to come to a close when the ACSA EC Open takes place in Pretoria on December 12 to 18.
