Cayman House, the first hospitality suite organised by the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee (CIOC), has officially opened its doors.

Located within walking distance of the central Games hub here in the CIBC Pan Am Park, Cayman House has been opened in partnership with Toronto-based agency FUSE Marketing Group.

It is intended to be a retreat and place for rest, relaxation and medal celebrations for the country's athletes, along with their friends, families, clients, media and guests.

Doors were officially opened in a ceremony attended by a wide variety of athletes and officials, both from the Cayman Islands and beyond.

These included Brett Fraser, winner of a historic 200 metres freestyle gold medal at the Guadalajara 2011 Games, and both CIOC President Donald McLean and secretary general Carlson Ebanks.

Also present was Garo Keresteci, chief executive of Fuse Marketing Group, and Toronto 2015 counterpart Saad Rafi.

Billed as a "home away from home", it will be open from 10am to 2pm daily for the rest of the Games.

The House, opened with support from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism as well as sponsors Tortuga Rum Cakes and Cayman Spirits, will also host a series of special events.

This includes an official Cayman House Party on Saturday (July 18), featuring acts from the Cayman Islands, as well as Canadian rock bans The Mandevilles.

After winning one silver medal in the Pan American Games at Winnipeg 1999, Santa Domingo 2003 and Rio de Janeiro 2007, the Caribbean British Overseas Territory's won a full set of medals at Guadalajara 2011, including that historic gold for Fraser.

He finished ahead of elder brother Shaune as the Cayman Islands finished first and second.

No medals have been won so far here, with Brett Fraser's victory in the 100m freestyle B-final the best performance.
