A new website has been launched by World Para Volley ©World Para VolleyA new website has been launched by World ParaVolley as the organisation continues its ongoing marketing and modernisation drive.

The website, available here, is aimed at fans of all ParaVolley disciplines around the world.

It features the latest news, features, calendar of upcoming events and world rankings, plus all important documents regarding getting started in the sport, relating to issues such as classifications and anti-doping.

"We are very pleased that the website has been renewed at such a high level," said Barry Couzner, the World ParaVolley President.

"We are convinced that it will prove to be a great source of information for our members and other stakeholders as well as a key medium for effective communication."

The new website comes at a time of change for the sport, five months after Couzner replaced Egyptian Dr Hossam Mostafa as the body's President.

But, it also comes just days after confirmation the sitting side of the sport would continue to feature at the Paralympics in 2020.

Other changes will also be introduced in coming weeks, World ParaVolley announced, including the launching of a quarterly newsletter which will build on information from the website.

It will also include all the latest news from each ParaVolley zone as well as for upcoming major tournaments.

Men's sitting volleyball was first introduced to the Paralympic programme at Arnhem1980, with a women's event added at Athens 2004.

At London 2012, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Iran in the men's final, while China overcame United States in the women's event.

Although sitting volleyball is the only Para-volley discipline currently on the Paralympic programme, standing events also take place, as well as beach sitting and beach standing competitions.
