The competition was due to be a part of the Snowboard Jamboree event, which runs from February 19 to 22 at the Stoneham Mountain Resort.

"Following the resort's labour dispute and the holiday season's mild weather, we have been determined to deliver the best possible ski conditions to our loyal customers," Stoneham Mountain Resort general manager Daniel Rochon said.

"We are unable to host the FIS Half-Pipe World Cup for two reasons: the lack of water available to make snow as well as the time needed to produce a Half-Pipe that meets FIS standards.

"In the coming weeks, we will put 100 per cent of our efforts into the slopestyle course, an event that we guarantee to host."

Despite the setback, the FIS Big Air World Cup at Îlot Fleurie, which will be open to women for the first time, will open the festivities on February 20 as originally planned.

The FIS Slopestyle World Cup is due to be staged on February 21 and will follow an evening of entertainment at the official Snowboard Jamboree Party at Le Cercle, including snowboarding, music, art and food.

The Halfpipe World Cup men's overall standings are currently led by David Wise of the United States, while New Zealand's Janina Kuzma heads the women's overall leaderboard.

They will now have to wait until February 25 for the next World Cup event, due to take place in Park City, Utah.

Scotty James of Australia and China's Cai Xuetong claimed halfpipe gold at the recent FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria.
