The company will provide insurance, such as accident insurance, commercial general liability insurance and inland marine insurance, for the Universiade.

The agreement was signed between Gwangju 2015 secretary general Kim Yoon-suk and Park Chan Jong, chief executive of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance.

"The Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organising Committee is taking precautions and safety measures seriously to deliver a safe and sound Universiade for the 20,000 participants from 170 countries visiting Gwangju next year," said Kim.

Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance is a marine and fire, automobile insurance company established in 1955, with headquarters in Jongno-gu in Seoul.

In addition, the insurance company has a vast wealth of experience working with international events and organisations, including the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, and Expo 2012 Yeosu, an international exposition aimed at identifying ways to resolve challenges facing the ocean.
