Jones, 18, began a law degree at Teeside University this month and film crews from Transworld Sport followed her around during her first week on campus to film how she combined training with the start of academic life.

The documentary is due to be aired next Wednesday (November 5) on Channel 4, which provided award-winning coverage of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Jones competed at those Games, qualifying for the final of the T54 1500 metres event.

She has subsequently gone on to claim a silver and bronze at the International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Lyon last year, while she took 1500m bronze at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

A native of Middlesbrough, Jones revealed that she has always had an interest in law and an opportunity to study at Teeside University has arisen thanks to its elite athlete scheme.

The scheme provides student athletes with support in a range of areas including sports science, strength and conditioning and physiotherapy.

It also allows athletes to use a specialised environmental chamber which can recreate exact climate conditions such as those Jones will be hoping to experience at Rio 2016.

"The facilities at Teesside University are incredible and the sports science support and strength and conditioning training are going to give me a real edge as I prepare for Rio," said Jones, who was born without a femur in her right leg and had her foot amputated at the age of 10.

"I have also been offered flexible study which is invaluable as I am often away competing."

Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Business and Law at Teeside University, Mark Simpson added: "If we can help Jade to build on the incredible success she has already achieved then that is great for everybody involved."
