As an official sponsor of the Gwangju Universiade, Black Yak will combine the concept of the Games with the Black Yak unique designs to produce jackets, t-shirts, hats, sneakers, and other sportswear.

These uniforms will be worn by Torch Relay runners, volunteers, operating and security staff during the Games, which are due to open on July 3 and last for 11 days.

In return, Gwangju 2015 will provide Black Yak with the rights to use the title as the official sponsor of the Games, as well as use the official logo and advertise and promote through official channels such as television commercials, online mobile advertisements, in store promotions, and other various marketing activities.

The signing ceremony was attended by Gwangju 2015 chairman, Yoon Jang-hyun and Black Yak chief executive Kang Tae-sun today in the business room of the Gwangju City Hall.

The company had been named as the preferred bidder in July.

"The Universiade has a special value as the only international sporting competition with the participation of students from all five continents," said Jang-hyun.

"This sponsorship will provide a mutually great opportunity for both the Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee and Black Yak, which is growing into a global outdoor brand."

After successfully branching out to the Chinese market in 1996, Black Yak has expanded to European countries such as Switzerland, Italy and Turkey last year, and is growing into one of the top global outdoor brands with its outdoor technology and unique designs, the company claims.

"I am very happy that Black Yak has become a sponsor of the Gwangju Universiade, a global festival for the youths, and we will do our best for the successful delivery of the Games," said Tae-sun.
