It was almost double delight for the Vanek's at the Tiszaujvaros Triathlon World Cup ©ITUIt was almost double delight for the Vanek family today as the Hungarian brother and sister combination of Akos and Margit won gold and silver in the men's and women's events of the Tiszaujvaros Triathlon World Cup.

Akos delighted the home crowds when he out-sprinted Rostyslav Pevtsov to the line to claim gold in a time of 53min 51sec.

Pevstov, currently representing the International Triathlon Union (ITU) due to a transition from the Russian Triathlon Federation to that of Azerbaijan, was behind coming into the run but closed the gap to just a second to push his Hungarian counterpart all the way to the line.

Just a second adrift of the frontrunners came another Hungarian triathlete, Gabor Faldum, who battled back from 22nd after the swim to claim the bronze.

"[It's] always a pleasure to race here at home, the atmosphere's great, I've just won my first World Cup," said Akos.

"I'm so happy.

"It's a special race, with the double sprint.

"I had to focus on my technique to be the first guy in the sprint finish."

Margit was just seven seconds away from making it a double golden delight for Hungary and the Vanek family, however, her efforts were thwarted by Dutch triathlete Rachel Klamer.

Klamer came from behind in the swim to record an impressive 31:11 split on the bike and soar to the head of the field, alongside Margit and Brazil's Pamela Oliveira.

Her run was topped by just one athlete, Hungary's Zsofia Kovacs, as the Dutchwoman finished in 59:31 to take gold ahead of Margit on 59:38.

Despite leading for a large portion of the race, Oliveira dropped into third on the run to claim the bronze medal.

Following her victory, Klamer said: "My run was really, really hard and I'm completely smashed.

"But it's awesome to win it.

"After yesterday I thought it wasn't very hard, or at least not the run.

"I'm so happy.

"It's an awesome event and I love to race here.

"But this morning I thought, 'this is going to be really tough', but I made it.

"I've never raced something like this before."
