After record-breaking times in the T34 200 and 800 metres over the weekend, the 28-year-old was back for more yesterday, blowing away the field in the 400m to set a world record time of 50.95sec, 0.58 faster than the previous record that he set himself in Nottwil, Switzerland, last May.

The two-times Paralympic champion, who took gold in both the 100m and 200m T34 events at London 2012, now holds the T34 world records across all distances from 100m to 800m, having broken the 100m record in Kuwait City, Kuwait in 2012.

In a Grand Prix that has already seen numerous records fall, day three at the Sharjah Club did not disappoint with six regional records broken throughout the day.

An Indian double saw Ankur Dhama slice an incredible five seconds sliced off the 800m T11 Asian record, set more than 10 years ago, to finish in 2 min 9.41sec, while off the track team-mate Vikas Dagar set his second regional record of the competition, throwing 14.26 metres in the F43 discus, to add to the shot-put record he earned over the weekend.

Uzbekistan's Fakriddin Khamraev also followed up his 1,500m T13 Asian record from the weekend with a sensational run in the men's 800m.

His time of 1:53.20 was just 0.70 outside the world record, but smashed the previous Asian record set at the 2010 Asian Para Games by more than 14 seconds.

Khamraev's team-mate Yokutkhon Kholbekova finished off a spectacular day for Asian athletes after she broke the near eight-year old 800m T12 Asian record in a time of 2:22.62.

A final record was set in the F45 long jump event as Bulgaria's Mihail Hristov leapt to a European record distance of 6.00m.

One athlete who is certainly making a name for herself in Dubai is Great Britain's Maria Lyle.

The 14-year-old followed up her 200m T35 world record from the weekend with a victory in the 100m T35/36, posting a wind assisted 14.58sec, to beat Germany's T36 world champion Claudia Nikoleitzik into second place.

Monday's competition also saw Germany's world and Paralympic champion Marcus Rehm ease to victory in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.27m, some way short of the world record he set last July.

Action at the first IPC Athletics Grand Prix of the season continues through until tomorrow.
