After winning four out of four in the men's events, the Chinese divers were denied a complete medal haul thanks to Australia's young prospect Maddison Keeney, who won both the individual and synchronised events on the 3 metre springboard.

In a hotly contested competition, Keeney held her nerve to finish ahead of China's Lin Qu to put an end to the country's complete dominance at the Madrid Grand Prix.

The 17-year-old repeated the feat in the 3m synchronised springboard alongside Anabelle Smith, as she again triumphed over Qu, with partner Qulin Zheng, to secure her second title of the meet.

The women's 10m platform events would have been more to China's liking as Qian Ren claimed both the individual and synchronised titles.

Ren took the individual gold ahead of compatriot Jie Lian and Australia's Rachel Bugg, before securing a second gold alongside Siyu Ji in the synchronised event.

On the men's side, Chinese athletes were completely dominant with Shixin Li and team-mate Zhiyu Sun securing gold and bronze respectively in the 3m springboard.

The pair then teamed up to take gold in the 3m synchronised event, finishing ahead of the Aussies of Grand Nel and Matthew Mitcham.

It was another first and third in the men's 10m individual platform as Aisen Chen and Liang Huo were split on the podium by Mexico's Diego Balleza.

Chen then followed this up with a gold in the 10m synchronised platform as he and Jian Yang finished almost 100 points ahead of Mexican duo Jonathan Ruvalcaba and Balleza.

The divers will now travel to Rostock, Germany to compete in the second leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix from February 21 to 23.
