FINA' partnership with Midea will continue until 2017 ©WikipediaJanuary 14 - A partnership renewal between FINA and the Chinese domestic appliance business Midea until 2017 has been announced.


The partnership sees Midea continue to be an Official FINA Partner for upcoming events, such as the World Short Course Swimming Championships in 2014 and 2016 which will take place in Doha and Windsor, Canada, respectively. 

The deal will also see them become an official partner at the World Aquatics Championships in 2015 and 2017 in Kazan and Guadalajara respectively.

The firm, which makes products such as dishwashers, microwaves and fans, will sponsor of the FINA World Record Programme for the swimming events as part of the agreement.

FINA President Julio Maglione expressed his delight at the renewal of the partnership.

"This association between our International Federation and Midea is of great value for the entire Aquatic Family, for the development of our disciplines, not only in China but around the world," he said in Guangzhou, China, as he announced the renewal.

"The FINA World Championships is broadcast in more than 200 territories and reached, for the last edition in Barcelona 2013, a total of 4.5 billion cumulative TV viewers worldwide.

"These impressive figures constitue a great benefit to Midea and to all our partners."
