Trajdos pinned Li to the tatami with an osae-komi-waza for ippon less than two minutes into the contest to improve on her silver medal from last year's event and travel home with gold.

The first bronze medal of the day had to be settled on a golden score as both athletes failed to record a score during the contest.

During this sudden death showdown, it was China's Cuijuan Shi who came out on top, scoring by osaekomi to beat Brazil's Ana Carla Grincevicus.

China's losing semi-finalist, Wen Zhang, was unable to compete in the second bronze medal final match due to injury, leaving Germany's Claudia Ahrens to pick up the medal uncontested.

Chen Fei came out on top against compatriot Jia Zhao in an all Chinese affair in the women's under 70kg final



China had their first gold medal of the Grand Prix guaranteed in the under 70kg final as defending champion Chen Fei looked to retain her title against Universiade silver medallist and compatriot Jia Zhao.

It was Fei who came out on top, pinning her teammate with osae-komi-waza after going ahead from a yuko.

The first bronze medal went to Russia's European Team Championships bronze medallist Ekatrina Denisenkova, who ended Brazilian Barbara Timo's medal hopes with a sumi-gaeshi for ippon.

Russia made it two for two in this set of bronze medal finals as Irina Gazieva defeated Mongolia's East Asian Games bronze medallist Tserenkhand Tsendsuren by wazari-awasette-ippon.

Germany's World Team Championships bronze medallist Igor Wandtke blew the competition away in the men's under 73kg weight category.

Wandtke breezed to the final, beating each of his opponents by ippon to book a place alongside South Korea's Kim Yong Jeong.

The London European Cup winner did not stop there and continued this perilous form into the final, earning an ippon off of a osae-komi to secure his fourth ippon victory in a row and a gold medal for his efforts.

Brazil's Eduardo Barbosa recorded the biggest win of his career when he beat countryman Joao Macedo in the first bronze final.

United Arab Emirates' Victor Scvortov secured the second bronze medal within 90 seconds of the contest starting.

He executed a perfect ko-soto-gari for ippon against Germany's Minsk European Open bronze medallist Christopher Voelk.

The last final of the day was a particularly close encounter with the United Arab Emirates' world number 13 Sergiu Toma squaring up to Germany's world number 15 Sven Maresch in the under 81kg category.

Toma saw reigning Moscow Grand Slam gold medallist, Maresch, receive a shido for blocking his attacks.

Maresch was unable to assert himself in the tense contest and received a second shido to hand the win to the in-form United Arab Emirates judoka.

The first bronze medal contest was also decided on shido penalties, with Russia's Arsen Pshmakhov receiving just one penalty to his opponent's, Germany's Alexander Wieczerzak, three.

The second bronze medal was won by Brazil's Vinicius Panini, who beat China's Xuewen Wang with a superb de-ashi-barai for ippon to take home the final medal of the day.
