He replaces Italy's Stefano Bosi, who resigned in August after 17 years in charge following an unsuccessful campaign to replace Canada's Adham Sharara as head of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

Bosi decided to step down, he claimed, to help restore unity to the sport following a bitter election campaign during which he accused Sharara of abusing his power and misusing the organisation's funds.

Kramer, a University of Amsterdam graduate, has been President of the Netherlands Table Tennis Association since 2010. 

He was unopposed and polled 39 of the 51 votes. 

Kramer's election is set to mark a new period for the sport in Europe with several key officials deciding to leave the ETTU.

These included France's Jean-Francois Kahn, who, as Deputy President, had replaced Bosi on a temporary basis following his resignation.

Others leaving include Luxembourg's Camille Gonderinger, the vice-president for finances, and Serbia's Aleksandar Matkovic, who have both decided to step down from the ETTU Executive Board. 

Croatia's Ivo Goran Munivrana was elected as the new Deputy President while Denmark's Dorte Darfelt will be the new vice-president for finances.

They will be joined on the Executive Board by Finland's Sonja Grefberg, Russia's Roman Markov, Czech Republic's Nikolas Endal, Turkey's Ozan Cakir and Germany's Heike Ahlert.

They have all been elected until 2016.
