Frenchman Pierre La Corre has won the 2013 men's under-23 triathlon world title in LondonSeptember 12 - French athletes Pierre Le Corre and Dorian Coninx have secured a golden double for their nation at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Championships in London, winning the under 23 and junior titles respectively.

Le Corre fell just short of a medal at last year's under-23 World Championships, but came back with a vengeance this year to take the title, finishing in a time of 1 hour 42mins and 47secs, four seconds ahead of Spaniard Fernando Alarza who took silver, while Declan Wilson of Australia finished in third.

Coninx, meanwhile, prevailed in a thrilling junior race which went right down to the wire.

The European junior champion was pushed hard by British pair Marc Austin and Grant Sheldon, but eventually edged it, finishing in 51:57, three seconds ahead of silver medallist Austin and four ahead of Sheldon, who claimed bronze.

In the women's under-23 race, Charlotte McShane of Australia took the narrowest of wins with a superb sprint finish, finishing just one second ahead of silver medal-winner Ellen Pennock of Canada in 1:55:38.

Pennock's compatriot Amélie Kretz took the bronze in 1:55:41.

The women's junior title went to American Tamara Gorman, who finished well clear at the head of the field in a time of 57:08, ahead of Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown who came second in 57:31 and Germany's Laura Lindemann in third with 57:34.

Tomorrow, London will host the 2013 Paratriathlon World Championships, which will be the biggest Paratriathlon in history, along with the Age-Group Sprint World Championship races.
