August 12 - Paralympic Day ticketsFans are being encouraged to sign up for the 10,000 tickets available to watch elite sports events that will be held as part of National Paralympic Day at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on September 7.

The free event to mark the one year anniversary of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, is organised by the Mayor of London and the British Paralympic Association (BPA), along with The London Legacy Development Corporation, and will see leading athletes and disabled performers taking part in a range of activities and sports.

No tickets are required for visitors who are looking to access the Olympic Park on the day to experience the atmosphere, try different sports and enjoy the Mayor of London's Liberty Festival, which is an annual showcase of deaf and disabled artists.

Those who want to attend the elite sporting events taking place in the Copper Box venue can register for free tickets by visiting the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park website which links to Ticketweb, and they will have a choice of three sessions to attend on the day.

The first session, which starts at 9am, will feature boccia and table tennis matches.

British London 2012 Paralympians Scott McCowan, Jacob Thomas and Jess Hunter will take on European silver medallists Greece in a BC3 pairs boccia match before Britain and Brazil square off in a Para-table tennis clash.

The afternoon session comprises of a sitting volleyball match between Britain and the Netherland's men's teams.

The third and final session will see Great Britain's women's wheelchair basketball side, fresh from their bronze at the European Championships last month; take on the French team who they vanquished in the bronze medal match in Germany.

In addition to the ticketed events in the Copper Box, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with Paralympic athletes and try out some of the sports on offer as come-and-try activities in the Copper Box arena and in the north of the Park.
