July 21 -IPC DAY TWO Brazil's Alan Oliveira and American Jarryd Wallace produced dominant sprinting displays to claim world titles and set world records on the second day of action at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Lyon.

In all, nine world records fell at the Stadium of Parilly on day two of the athletics showpiece, which also witnessed two gold medals for the United States' Tatyana McFadden and another world title for Swiss Marcel Hug.

Paralympic champion Oliveira clocked a world best of 20.66 seconds on his way to victory in the T42 200 metres to claim his first world title.

In the T44 200m, Wallace broke the record he set on day one in the semi-finals as he powered home in 22.08 to head an all-American top three with David Prince and Jerome Singleton finishing second and third.

Compatriot Raymond Martin continued the American success winning gold in the T52 800m in a championship record of 1:59.52, while McFadden added a further two gold medals to the US' haul.

McFadden's first victory came in the women's T54 200m as she defended the title she won in Christchurch two years ago.

In the women's T54 5,000m, the 24-year-old produced a superb display to finish ahead of Switzerland's Manuela Schär and her compatriot Edith Wolf-Hunkeler who came in third.

In the men's T54 400m, Hug added to the 10,000m crown he won on day one by setting a championship best time of 47:15 on his way to victory.

Defending T11 200m champion Lucas Prado, who also won Paralympic gold in London, successfully retained the title he won two years ago in New Zealand, taking gold ahead of Namibia's Ananias Shikongo, with fellow Brazilian Daniel Silva claiming bronze.

Another reigning world champion, Poland's Mateusz Michalski held on to his world title after setting a championship best time of 21.78 on his way to victory in the T12 200m.

Paralympic champion Huang Lisha of China claimed gold in the women's T53 200m in yet another championship record of 29.76.

Canada's Brent Lakatos added world gold to the Paralympic silver he won last year in the men's T53 400m, clocking a championship record 49.02.

There was double success for Ireland as Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop both secured gold medals.

Four-time Paralympic champion Smyth equalled his own world record in the T13 200m, while teammate McKillop, a triple Paralympic gold medallist, claimed his second successive world title this time in the T37 800m with 1:57.17.

In the women's T11 800m, Italy's Annalisa Minetti took gold ahead of Colombia's Maritza Arango Buitrago and 2011 champion Miroslava Sedláčková of the Czech Republic in 2:21.82 - another championship record.

Ukrainian Oxana Boturchuk took the women's T12 200m crown ahead of Britain's Libby Clegg.

There were also a number of qualifiers on the track earlier in the day which included the men's T53 400m which saw reigning world and Paralympic champion Li Huzhao of China make it through comfortably along with silver and bronze medallist from London 2012 Lakatos and Australia's Richard Colman.

Johanna Benson of Namibia who won gold in London, made it through to the final of the women's T37 200m but she will face stiff competition from defending champion Katrina Hart of Britain and France's Mandy François-Elie who produced a stunning performance in the semi-final to set a world record time of 28:35.

In the men's T36 100m semi-finals, Russia's Paralympic champion Evgenii Shvetcov set a world best of 11:92 and he will be joined in the final by Britons Ben Rushgrove and Paralympic silver medallist Graeme Ballard.

Meanwhile, in the field events Poland's Bartosz Tyszkowski took gold in the men's F41 shot put with a personal best of 12.18m, while in the men's F37/38 discus, Ukraine's Mykola Zhabnyak managed to go one better than the silver medal he won two years ago, clinching gold with a championship best of 55.71m.

The women's F55/56/57 shot put saw Germany's Martina Willing secure gold with a throw of 9:03m, while a world record was set by Briton Josie Pearson who confirmed her dominance in the discipline by adding the world title to Paralympic gold throwing 7:09m.

Cuban Luis Felipe Gutiérrez also added world gold to his Paralympic success in the men's T13 long jump with a jump of 7.33m.

Gutiérrez's compatriot and fellow Paralympic champion Leandro Diaz retained his world F54/55/56 discus title with a record throw of 45:32m, while in the F44 discus another Paralympic champion added world gold to his collection as the US' Jeremy Campbell overcame defending champion Dan Greaves with a winning throw of 56:86m.

Athens 2004 gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia won the men's F46 javelin with a throw of 57:04m, while in the men's T42 long jump a leap of 6.11m saw Japan's Atsushi Yamamoto take gold.

The women's T11 long jump crown went to Lorena Spoladore of Brazil.

Mariia Pomazan of Ukraine completed the list of world records on the day in the women's F35/36 shot put, as she retained her world title with a throw of 12:35m.

The IPC Athletics World Championships will continue through to July 28.
