July 21 - salogoSportAccord President Marius Vizer has made two new appointments in the form of Sergey Seloveychik and George Yerolimpos to serve roles in the organisation's dedicated multi-sport games unit.

World Karate Federation (WKF) and European Karate Federation (EKF) general secretary Yerolimpos, who is also a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, has been appointed as the executive director of all SportAccord multi-sport games, while European Judo Union (EJU) President Seloveychik will serve as chairman of the 2013 World Combat Games.

Athens native Yerolimpos is himself a former Greek and European karate champion and will now take charge of SportAccord's multi-sport events programme, which includes the World Combat Games, World Mind Games, World Beach Games, World Urban Games and World Artistic Games.

He joins SportAccord, the umbrella organisation for all Olympic and non-Olympic international sports federations, having previously held positions in international sports administration, including as vice-chairman of the Beijing 2010 Martial Arts Games, advisor to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and executive director of the Mediterranean Games.

As chairman of the 2013 World Combat Games, Soloveychik will oversee the running of the upcoming event taking place in St Petersburg, Russia on October 18-26.

Originally from Moscow, he is also vice-president of the International Judo Federation (IJF) having been elected in 2007 and was also President of the Moscow Judo Federation (MJF) from 1998 to 2000.

Vizer, who was elected as SportsAccord President in May this year replacing Hein Verbruggen and is also the current President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), said that the new appointments will help move the organisation forward.

"Both gentlemen will be an asset for our organisation and will help bring it to new dimensions," he said.
