July 12 - Michael JamiesonSwimmer Michael Jamieson has been named the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Sportsman of the Year following a successful 2012-2013 season which saw him claim Olympic silver in the 200 metres breaststroke at London 2012.

Jamieson, who also won a silver medal at the World Short Course Championships in Istanbul, was honoured at the annual BUCS Awards Dinner at Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh.

The 24-year-old was joined on the Sportsman of the Year shortlist by fellow Olympian Harry Martin, a member of the British hockey squad that finished fourth at last summer's Games, and by Chris Doran, who won three golds at the recent European University Table Tennis Championships.

As well as his silvers in London and Istanbul, Jamieson added three more titles to his collection at the BUCS Short Course Championships, rounding off a successful year for the University of Bath sports performance graduate, who received a swimming scholarship to attend the university.
