163317469June 3 - USA Basketball have named a roster of 29 players that will attend their training camp prior to the 2013 Univerisade in Kazan, including Kendall Williams and Doug McDermott (pictured left), who were both named as their respective conference players of the year.

The training camp is due to take place at the United States Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs from June 24 to July 1, and will be led by head coach Bob McKillop from Davidson College, and his assistants, John Beilein of Michigan and Frank Martin from the University of South Carolina.

University of Colorado head coach Tad Boyle was also named as a court coach for the camp last month, along with fellow collegiate head coaches Jim Kessler of Grace College and Matt Matheny of Elon University.

The players named on the roster will vie for spots on the team that will travel to Russia next month looking to improve on their fifth-place finish at Shenzhen 2011, where they were defeated by Lithuania in the quarter-final.

"The committee has assembled one of the strongest World University Games training camp rosters USA Basketball has ever had," said Jim Boeheim, chair of the USA Men's Junior National Team Committee.

"It includes some of the top players in college basketball, several of whom have international experience.

"Selecting the players for the final roster is going to be a real challenge."

Along with Williams and McDermott are players with experience of representing their nation, such as Quinn Cook and Chasson Randle, who were part of the US team that won the 2009 FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship in Argentina, and the FIBA Under-17 World Championships in 2010 in Hamburg.

The US are due face North American rivals Canada in Pool C in Kazan, as well as the Czech Republic, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
