cool tokyo 230513May 22 - Award-winning sport photographer Delly Carr has captured a series of images telling the story of Tokyo 2020's key ideals for its Olympic and Paralympic bid.

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) photographer who shot the "Cool Tokyo" images after the ITU World Triathlon Series in Yokohama earlier this month focuses on, what Japanese officials claim, are the core strengths of the Japanese capital's bid for the 2020 Games – delivery, celebration and innovation.

"Tokyo is cool," Carr said.

"From Akihabara to Harajuku, there are a lot of cool things and the lifestyle is cool.

"What is cool is everyone is very individual here.

"Tokyo isn't shaped by other trends in the world.

"It is very unique, and you have your own sense of culture and fashion here.

"I'm amazed with how cosmopolitan Tokyo is.

"I come to Ginza and there are French cafes, Italian restaurants, and then you also have your traditional Japanese restaurants."

The Australian photographer also gave his backing to Tokyo 2020 saying he "will do everything he can to make sure Tokyo wins" the right to host the Games.

"Innovation definitely, and delivery is the strongest point," Carr explained.

"And celebration, Japan loves sport and they will take the whole Games to heart.

"It will be exciting for all the people here.

"I will do everything I can to make sure Tokyo wins.

"I've been here a week and seen a lot more than I thought was possible.

"Tokyo will do an amazing job.

"Of course they will."

Tokyo is up against Madrid and Istanbul in the race to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is due to name the winning bidder at its Session in Buenos Aires on September 7 this year.
