165121280April 14 - Chinese top seeds Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen have retained their respective men's and women's titles at the GAC Group 2013 Asia Cup at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong.


Both finals were contested between Chinese players, with Liu defeating Wu Yang in five games and Xu defeated Wan An in a six game battle.

Xu was run close by youngster Wan but continues momentum following his win at the Korean Open last month, in which he defeated countryman and world number one Ma Long.

The winners, runners-up and bronze medallists have secured qualification for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Cup, which will be contested later this year.

Kasumi Ishikawa of Japan and Chuang Chih-Yuan from Chinese Taipei sealed their qualification with third place finishes in the women's and men's events.

The Starts Women's World Cup is due to be staged in Kobe, Japan from September 21 until 23 and the Liebherr Men's World Cup is to be hosted in Verviers, Belgium, on October 25 until 27.
