sevens-one-008April 11 - England have unveiled their daring new rugby sevens kits at Twickenham today, which are sure to invoke debate amongst rugby fans due to their somewhat abstract nature.

The kits, designed by leading rugby apparel manufacturers Canterbury of New Zealand, feature pixelated designs which reflect "the fluidity and speed involved in the game", according to the makers.

The home kit features a pixelated English rose- a symbol which is synonymous with English rugby.

The kits will make their debuts at the Marriott London Sevens - the last in the 2012-2013 International Rugby Board (IRB) HSBC Sevens World Series - which are due to take place at Twickenham on the weekend of May 11.

To mark the launch of the new kits, Canterbury have launched a "Home or Away" campaign.

Seven London taxis have been given a makeover to reflect the new kit designs, and fans have been challenged to spot the taxis and send a photo to Canterbury via Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #HomeorAway, with all photos receiving an automatic prize, varying from money off vouchers to a new England Sevens shirt to tickets to the Marriott London Sevens.

Canterbury chief executive Chris Stephenson said: "Sevens is becoming one of the fastest growing sports, and appeals to a wide audience.

"With this in mind, we have crafted two very special shirts, representing a home and alternate proposition.

"The Marriott London Sevens is only a month away, which I'm sure will exceed the record-breaking crowds of last year.

"We are keen to get the fans ready for the event, indulge in the atmosphere and decorate the whole of Twickenham in either team home or team away."

Sophie Goldschmidt, Chief Commercial Officer, RFU said: "It's fantastic that Canterbury is launching a campaign to generate excitement and debate amongst fans for the new England Sevens kit.

"As we get closer to the Marriott London Sevens at Twickenham in May, we hope the country will get behind the teams and vote for Team Home or Team Away."

Canterbury have also created two viral Lego videos to accompany the launch of the new kits, which can be found here: Home Away.
