The match was contested in front of a capacity crowd of close to 1,000 in Singapore, and Pakistan were in ruthless form, winning every match and smashing 12 goals past Sri Lanka on their way to the final.

Malaysia won bronze, beating Japan 3-1 in the bronze medal match, and Chinese Taipei secured fifth-placed, coming through victorious in a shoot-out with Korea following a 5-5 draw.

Muhammad Atiq of Pakistan won the top goalscorer award, netting 20 times over the four-day tournament, as Mhommad Ashraful Islam of Bangladesh earned the Player of the Tournament trophy, and Malaysia's Ammad Fahmi Azhar Ruddin earned the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.

The new Hockey5 format introduced by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) features two teams consisting of five players per side - as opposed to the standard eight - and comprises of three 12 minute periods on a playing surface which is around half the size of a regulation hockey pitch.

Pakistan and Bangladesh secured their qualification for the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing next year by reaching the final of the tournament.
