SJS 8471February 21 - Archery GB have formed a partnership with family holiday camp chain Butlins to introduce young people to archery with the introduction of the "Shooting for Gold Award" programme as part of the London 2012 legacy.

The scheme will be available at three Butlins resorts - Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead - and will be open to all people over the age of eight.

Participants will have the opportunity to aim for red, blue or gold badges, depending on their progress, under the supervision of Archery GB-approved instructors, with all participants given details of how to get involved at their local club.

"This is a great opportunity to get all the family involved in our fantastic sport and perhaps, inspire the Olympians and Paralympians of the future." said Archery GB chairman David Harrison.

"That's what's so great about archery.

"It gives everyone the chance to fulfil their potential, whether that's being the best in the world or just having a great time shooting arrows with your friends and family; it's about fun.

"It's about family and those are values we share with Butlins."

Mike Godolphin, entertainments director at Butlins, said: "It's really important for us to be constantly evolving and developing the experience for our guests, especially if it is something that families can try together for the first time.

"Archery GB will be working closely with our own sports coaches to ensure that guests receive only the most professional and expert coaching possible."
