ExxonMobilFebruary 10 - American oil and gas giant ExxonMobil have announced a new three-year sponsorship of Qatar's National Sport Day.


The National Sport Day, which takes place annually across Qatar on Tuesday (February 12), was created by the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as a way to promote health and exercise throughout the country.

ExxonMobil Qatar President and general manager Bart Cahir expressed his excitement at securing the new deal.

"Energy development is more than oil and gas production" said Cahir.

"It is about delivering sustainable, long term benefits for local communities, and there is no more meaningful event for this than the National Sport Day."

His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), also welcomed the deal.

"We thank Mr Cahir for his support and leadership in making ExxonMobil Qatar and Official Sponsor of the National Sport Day" said Sheikh Saoud.

"It is an honour and a privilege to welcome them on board this prestigious initiative adopted by His Highness the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani."

ExxonMobil, who were founded in 1999 and based in Texas, is the world's largest company by revenue and one of the largest publicly traded companies by market capitalisation in the world

ExxonMobil will now look to help elevate Qatar's status in the international sport arena and look to develop the key values of camaraderie, sportsmanship and friendship through their involvement with the National Sport Day.
