The inspection team consisted of 34 delegates, including chairman John Warnock, and they spent 13 days in the South Korean city conducting in-depth assessments of the plans for the event.

The assessments were conducted through meetings with the Organising Committee as the inspection team looked at areas including competition operation and management, new construction and renovation of sports venues, the Athletes' Village, transportation, safety, volunteer work and media.

Gwangju has been praised by FISU in its preparations for the 2015 Summer Universiade

"The 2015 Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee (GUOC) believe that this first FISU CTI inspection not only led to closer cooperation between us and FISU but it also served as fresh momentum to prepare an efficient and fruitful 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade," said a Gwangju 2015 statement.

"The FISU CTI inspection visits will be carried out on a regular basis until the opening of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade.

"The second inspection visit which will assess all events is expected to be in 2014."

The Gwangju 2015 Summer Universiade is set to be staged in July of that year.

The Universiade is the biggest sporting competition in the word for university athletes, while Gwangju 2015 will follow the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.
