Elsewhere Joshua Kelly and Danny Williams won bronze medals at welterweight and heavyweight respectively, making this England's best ever performance at the Youth World Championships.

"To deliver England's best ever performance at these Championships was a superb achievement by the team," said Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE) chief executive Mark Abberley.

"It augurs very well for the future success of the Olympic boxing programme in Great Britain that the coaches and clubs that work at the grassroots of the sport are continuing to produce and develop such fine talents that are already able to win medals in international competitions."

Cuba and Russia lit up the final day of competition with their boxers claiming two gold medals for their countries to top the medal table alongside England.
