Gwangju Universiade 2November 22 - The two co-chairmen and secretary general of Gwangju 2015 have been re-elected to their positions meaning they are now set to be in office when the Summer Universiade gets underway in South Korea in three years' time.

At its fourth plenary session at the Kimdaejung Convention Centre, which was attended by around 200 delegates, Gwangju 2015 co-chairs Kang Un-tae and Chung Eui-hwa, as well as the secretary general Kim Yoon-suk, all received a vote of confidence for a second consecutive three-year-term.

In addition, Kim was appointed as the full-time vice chairman of Gwangju 2015.

Eleven Executive Committee members were also re-elected to continue their terms for the next three years, the most senior of these being Korea University Sports Council chairman You Byong-jin.

The session saw new Executive Committee members elected, the most notable was the second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Yong-hwan, who will help build up positive relationship between Gwangju 2015 and the Central Ministry.

Meanwhile, Kang Jung-chae, the senior local officer, was selected as the head advisor for Gwangju 2015.

"Gwangju Universiade 2015 is the crucial opportunity for us to bring up Gwangju's brand value as the international sports city and to make advancement in the movement toward unification of Korea," said the Mayor of Gwangju Kang Un-tae following the conclusion of the session.

At the end of the meeting, Gwangju 2015 presented a progress report on various preparatory works, including expansion and restructuring of the Organising Committee, Venue Operational Plan, TIMS development, Athletes' Village construction.
