The exhibition marks the achievements of its Paralympians, including each medal won since its first participation in the Paralympic Games in 1972 in Heidelberg, Germany.

Hong Kong has competed in every Paralympics since, and the collection includes a gold and a silver medal from the Toronto 1976 Games, loaned from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) archive in Bonn, Germany.

As well as the exhibition, a celebration fundraising dinner was held at the Sha Tin Jockey Club Wong Bay House for the region's team that competed in this summer's Paralympics.

Hong Kong's Paralympians returned from London 2012 with three gold, three silver and six bronze medals.

Wheelchair fencer Yu Chui Yee (pictured top, left), who is also a member of the IPC Council, won two of the gold medals, while Wong Ka Man claimed the third in the ladies T11 table tennis.

Yu, who had her left leg amputated as a result of suffering bone cancer as a child, won four gold medals in Athens 2004 and one in Beijing four years' ago.

In total Hong Kong has won 120 medals, including 38 golds, since 1972.
