Daniel Dias (pictured above) and André Brasil (pictured below), the country's leading swimming hopes, are among the contingent.

Dias is a quadruple Paralympic gold medallist, while Brasil also won four gold medals at Beijing 2008.

They are joined by Clodoaldo Silva, one of the country's greatest Paralympians, who won six gold medals at Athens 2004.

Caio Amorim, Carlos Farrenberg, Rodrigues Phelipe, Edenia Garcia, Susana Ribeiro and Matthew Rheine are also travelling to Spain.


A host of other athletes will be travelling to Spain on September 4 for their own pre-Games preparation.

The swimmers' trip is part of the preparation programme of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports.

Brazil is sending 19 swimmers to London, and they will be expected to perform well having proven the most successful of all the sports in Beijing four years' ago.

Then, Brazil were ninth in the medal table with 17 golds, eight of which were in swimming.
