riouSeptember 25 - The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) has presented its new educational programme at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) General Assembly in Kazan, the city that will host the 2013 Summer Universiade.

The new educational programme will be a one-year Master of Sport Administration (MSA) course that has been developed by leading Russian and international experts in sport management.

The course will become the core element of the RIOU educational structure while it is aimed at training a new generation of managers for the Russian and world sports industry.

The key aspect of the course is studying preparations for the Summer and Winter Olympics and Paralympics, with the next Games set to be staged in the Russian city of Sochi in exactly 500 days' time.

RIOU chief executive Professor Lev Belousov outlined details of the programme's curriculum and key features to over 150 delegates at the FISU General Assembly as he explained that they play an important role in helping with the new project.

"All of you FISU delegates are young goal-oriented people, students committed to sports and fully inspired by it," he said.

"You are of principal importance to us because most of you reflect on continuing your training in the field of sports management.

"The Russian International Olympic University is ready to give you this opportunity."

Also co-founded by the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, RIOU activities focus on preparing highly qualified specialists in sports management for the industry of sport and specifically the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

Its educational programmes cover the key directions of sports education such as venue and infrastructure management, organising competitions, mass communications, diplomacy and administration, as well as career management.
