The 26-year-old, who is also the reigning world and Commonwealth Games champion, currently lives in the Gold Coast and was a huge supporter of the city's successful bid to host the 2018 competition.

Pearson will help unveil the logo at a special community celebration at Broadwater Parklands in Southport on April 4, which marks exactly five years to go to the start of Gold Coast 2018.

She will be joined at the logo unveiling by fellow Australian Commonwealth Games champions in the form of Paralympic sprinter Simon Patmore and swimmer Kieren Perkins.

Patmore won gold in the men's 100m T46 at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games before taking bronze in the 200m T46 at London 2012 while Perkins won four gold medals at the Victoria 1994 Commonwealth Games as well as two Olympic gold medals at Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1992 respectively in a glittering career.

Gold Coast 2018 Nigel Chamier claimed having Pearson, Patmore and Perkins at the logo launch is a huge boost.


"Sally's success at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games commenced her international domination of the women's 100m hurdles, which continued through to the London Olympic Games last year," said Chamier.

"Simon also won gold over 100m at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, but was denied the chance to run over 100m at the 2012 London Paralympic Games after tearing a hamstring on the way to winning a bronze medal over 200m.

"Kieren is regarded as one of the legends of world swimming and is an inspiration to a generation of Australian athletes."

Chamier added that the launch of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games logo will be the global invitation to athletes and supporters to come to the city in five years' time.

"The Gold Coast will host a great Games in 2018," he said.

"We want to share the experience, the atmosphere and the fun with sports fans and major event lovers from across Australia and throughout the world."
