Team England athletes and staff will complete preparations for Glasgow 2014 at St Georges Park ©CGETeam England athletes heading to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are set to conduct their final preparations at St George's Park in Burton upon Trent.

The team are due to be based at the English Football Association's National Football Centre, from June 18 to 29 and will fulfil media duties, attend briefings and use the facilities at the park which was officially opened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in October 2012.

Over the two weeks, the expected 440-strong athlete squad, along with 220 support staff, will take part in a bespoke kitting out service in partnership with official Team England kit partner Kukri.

Team members will receive 36 items of kit, tailored for each individual, plus all of their competition-wear.

"We are delighted that St George's Park is to play host to Team England at this crucial stage of the journey to Glasgow 2014," said Team England Chef de Mission Jan Paterson.

"This is a big moment for us as a team.

"To have a kit partner in Kukri who is willing to invest in ensuring a world class athlete experience from the very start is just fantastic.

"It's a significant moment for any athlete when they receive the first formal recognition that they will represent their country.

"The Team England kitting out experience at St George's Park marks that for each of them and demonstrates how much importance we place on that moment.

"I'd like to thank our kit suppliers Kukri as well as Staffordshire County Council and Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for their support in giving our team this exceptional opportunity."

Preston-based Kukri,  founded in 1999, signed the deal to become official kit suppliers to Team England at St George's Park in April last year replacing German firm Adidas, who had supplied England's kit at Delhi 2010.

Kukri is most associated with supplying sportswear and equipment for rugby union and also supplies kit for England's netball team, who are among the favourites to take the gold medal in Glasgow.

"Kukri is buzzing as we build up to distributing the Games kit to all the Team England athletes," said Kukri Group managing director Phil Morris.

"An awful lot of hard work has gone in to the design, specification and sizing of the kit with the 17 sports.

"We have had to tailor and bespoke the kit for an incredibly varied size and build of athlete attending Glasgow so we are both excited and proud as we await their reaction to both the design and tailoring we have produced."

England is expected to have one of the largest squads of athletes for the Games in Glasgow which is due to get underway on July 23 and last until August 3.

At Delhi 2010, England claimed 37 gold, 59 silver and 46 bronze medals to finish third overall behind India and Australia.
