February 2 - Karen Webb (pictured) has officially started her new role at  the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) having joined them from Visit London, where she was a specialist consultant handling event planning for the Olympic Park.

The Australian will be responsible for the overall positioning, branding and promotion of Olympic Park, including the development of the marketing, events and communications strategy.

Webb was vice president for Image and marketing communications at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for nearly eight years, leading the development of the Olympic brand, and was also marketing communications manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

After leaving the IOC, she became director at sports agency Vero Communications, the company founded by former London 2012 communications director Mike Lee, before leaving for Visit London.

OPL chief executive Andrew Altman said: "Karen has had an impressive and exciting career and her broad experience of working with world-leading brands and events is a significant boost to our organisation and for the extensive opportunities ahead for Olympic Park."
