October 29 - Luol Deng (pictured) finished with 17 points and nine rebounds as the Chicago Bulls opened the new NBA season with a 92-85 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

It was the British superstar's first appearance in the NBA since February 28 when he was sidelined with a stress fracture that forced him out of the European Championships.

Deng said: "I'm just glad the season started.

"'Like I said before, it will answer a lot of questions rather than me standing up ... every day and trying to answer questions.

"Me going and just playing will answer things.''

It was an encouraging start for the Bulls.

Deng said: "We know it's a good game, but we've got to keep on building on it.

"It's going to be a long season.

"I feel like we're mature enough this year that we could stay consistent with it.

'I thought we played harder than them,.

"'I'm not taking anything away from them - they're a great team - but I thought we won the game because we had more energy.''
