alt Mike Fennell (pictured) has been returned as President of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) for another four-year term through London 2012, extending his 32-year reign

 

Fennell was one of nine officers and directors elected at the quadrennial general meeting of the JOA.


Other members of the team who were returned to office included  Don Anderson asfirst vice-president, Captain Horace Burrell as second vice-president, Neville McCook as secretary general and Compton Rodney as treasurer.


The rest of the directors are made up of Howard Aris, Denise Forrest, Molly Rhone and Yvonne Kong, the former principal of GC Foster Sports College.

 

She replaces the late Jimmy Carnegie.


Fennell, 74, has served as President since 1977 and is also president of the Commonwealth Games Federation.

 

He oversaw the most successful performance ever by a Jamaican team at the Olympics in Beijing last year when they won 11 medals, including six gold.

 

The star of the team was Usain Bolt, who won three gold medals, including the 100 and 200 metres, setting world records in those events and then helping the 4x100m relay team to victory, also in a world record.
