glasgow 2014_28-07-12July 29 - Glasgow 2014 has appointed international sports rights agency Fast Track to lead the sale of the international television and broadcast rights of the Commonwealth Games to key global markets including South Africa, Asia and New Zealand.

Fast Track, the company founded by Britain's Christchurch 1974 Commonwealth Games 400 metres hurdles champion Alan Pascoe and now run by his compatriot Jon Ridgeon, the World Championship 110m hurdles silver medallist, has also been tasked with exploring the sale of international television and broadcast rights in non-Commonwealth Games territories.

The London-based agency, which is now part of the Chime Communication group, worked on the previous two Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 and Delhi in 2010.

"Maximising the opportunity of Glasgow 2014's international broadcast rights is a critical success factor in terms of ensuring as many people as possible across the world can share the experience of an outstanding Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the sporting achievements of thousands of great  athletes from across the world," said Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg.

"We are delighted to be working with Fast Track, a truly international sports agency with a wealth of experience and a successful Commonwealth Games track record.

"Through their efforts, we look forward to sharing Scotland's biggest sporting spectacle with audiences around the globe."

The Fast Track team working on Glasgow 2014 will be led by Richard Russell experienced former television executive, who has previously worked for ITN, London Weekend Television and Sky Television.

"Fast Track is extremely proud to have been appointed," said Russell.

"Glasgow 2014 will be the third consecutive Commonwealth Games that Fast Track has represented and we look forward to the challenge of building on the record income and distribution levels we achieved for Melbourne in 2006 and Delhi in 2010."

Fast Track now represents over 40 clients across 100 sponsorships covering global, regional and national sports events including the Olympics, Formula 1 and the Ryder Cup.
