Peter Waterfield_Tom_Daly_June_10June 9 - Tom Daley, who set a British record in the 10 metre platform synchro with his partner Peter Waterfield at the GB trials in Sheffield, described the result as "perfect timing" and said he and Waterfield were now "heading in the right direction" after their relatively disappointing showing of seventh place in the Olympic test event in February.

The synchro pair, who won the World Series overall gold in April, achieved a total of 475.77, but will not be officially named in Team GB's diving squad until Monday.

"That [the February Olympic test event] was the first event of the year and also the home crowd brought a lot more pressure," admitted Waterfield (pictured top right with Daley, left), who won Olympic silver alongside Leon Taylor in 2004.

"We've done a lot more competitions this year and have been improving so, with a little more work, I think we'll be right up there."

"It's been a long time waiting over these four years and these few months are seeming like a lifetime so we're looking forward to getting on with it now."

Beijing Olympian Stacie Powell (pictured above), who also set a British record of 376.05 in the women's 10m, will be joining the pair in the team, as will 17-year-old Jack Laugher, who won the men's 3m springboard final with a personal best total.

Powell, 26, who finished eighth at last month's European Championships, missed most of the 2011 season with appendicitis and a subsequent infection.

"The pressure today was probably a little bit more [than in Beijing] because this time last year I was bed-ridden," said the Southampton-based diver.

"I've had to really come in with a bang to prove to everyone that I was back and also to qualify for London, so I'm really pleased I've done that."
