Liu is among the members of Nanjing 2014 are returning from Innsbruck, where they attended the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games, which closed on Sunday (January 22).

Singapore hosted the first ever Youth Olympic Games in the summer of 2010.

"I have watched the Opening Ceremony and the Culture and Education Programme, which inspire a lot of things for me," Liu said.

"The Opening Ceremony used youth language to illustrate the values of the Youth Games."

Though Nanjing is committed to delivering a memorable Culture Education Programme and Opening Ceremony, Liu insisted that they would be able to do so without spending excessively.

Liu also said that the Youth Olympic Village would be completed during 2012.

"Both Singapore and Innsbruck present an economic Youth Games," Liu said.

"We can do that because all the stadiums are ready.

"We will firmly control the budget, using less money to hold the event.

"The Youth Olympic Village will be a greener, people-oriented, and will be finished this year."

Nanjing has the benefit of having hosted the 2005 National Chinese Games, in which 10,000 athletes participated, giving them much of the infrastructure required to stage the 2014 event.
