AFC logoNovember 23 - Malaysia will host the final stage of the Asian men's football qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in March next year, following a decision made at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee.


Malaysia will host a three team group between March 25 and 29 next year, with the winner progressing to take on an African representative in Coventry in April for a place at London 2012.

Asia is currently in the third round of qualifying, with three groups of four currently being played out, and from which the group winners will advance directly to London.

In Group A South Korea currently lead the way from Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, whilst Uzbekistan are ahead in Group B, with Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq just behind.

Group C contains leaders Syria and Japan, both on six points, with Bahrain and Malaysia pointless after two games.

The three group runners up will progress to compete in Malaysia for the right to take part in the play-off.
