November 19 - Nanjing 2014 has unveiled its slogan – "Share the Games, share our dreams" – to coincide with the 1,000 days to go milestone tomorrow until the start of the Summer Youth Olympic Games in the Chinese city.
International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge sent a letter which was read out at a ceremony to unveil the slogan, endorsing it for its conveying of the spirit of the 2014 Nanjing Games to the world.
The Chinese Olympic Committee and the General Administration of Sport in China also sent their congratulations, and the announcement concludes a search for the right message which took just over a year.
The public voted on the slogan from six initial choices, and it will now be published and spread over the world in the six official languages of the United Nations.
Nanjing has also started to detail some of the construction plans for the Games, and Nanjing 2014 chairman Yang Weize said: "We'll construct only one new competition stadium and one Youth Olympic Village.
"Moreover, we'll carefully consider the subsequent uses of the new stadium and Youth Olympic village and guarantee a sustainable development of them."
The Organising Committee also plan to implement ecological improvements to the city including a goal to maintain good air quality for 90 per cent of the year of the Games.
The Games in Nanjing will be the second Summer Youth Olympic Games, following Singapore in 2010, and the third Youth Olympics in total, after the Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria in 2012.
