The tickets were available for 24 hours from the morning of November 8, and Innsbruck 2012 chief executive Peter Bayer hailed it as a key point in their preparations.

"Tomorrow is another important milestone on the road to the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games," he said.

"Good luck to all those looking to secure a ticket.

"Those who have already got one can look forward to watching and cheering on world-class athletes from across the globe."

There are two types of tickets being given for the Games: ceremony tickets which give the holder access to either the Opening Ceremony in the Bergisel Stadium on January 13, or the Closing Ceremony in Maria-Theresien-Straße on January 22.

Venue day tickets will allow access to any event taking place on the day for which it is valid.

Individuals are able to apply for two tickets per day maximum, and all outdoor events can be watched without any ticket.

There are three more opportunities to secure tickets - on December 11 which marks 33 days to go, 22 December 22 days to go and on 2 January 11 days to go.

The number of tickets made available on each is equal to the number of days left until the start of the Games.
