October 5 - There are just 100 days to go until the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, where more than a thousand youngsters set to compete for honours.
Innsbruck will see a number of new Olympic events, including snowboard slopestyle, ski halfpipe and an ice hockey skills challenge.
The Games will teach the 1,058 athletes competing about the Olympic values, as well as honing their competitive edge.
The first official ticket for the event was given to Austrian President Heinz Fischer earlier this week, and tomorrow Innsbruck will be releasing 999 more free of charge.
There will be two types of ticket available, with Ceremony Tickets giving entry to either the Opening Ceremony at the Bergisel Stadium or the Closing Ceremony at the Maria-Theresien-Straße, while the Venue Day Tickets give access to all competitions taking place during Games.
"This is an important milestone on the journey to the first Winter Youth Olympic Games," said Peter Bayer, chief executive of Innsbruck 2012.
"By offering free tickets to the public we are opening up the Games to everyone.
"We want to invite all sports fans, both from Austria and abroad, to be a part of this incredible new event and support these elite young athletes as they come together from countries all over the world for what will be ten days of exciting sporting competition.
Free tickets will also be made available on November 8 to mark the 66 days to go milestone, on 11 December (33 days to go), 22 December (22 days to go) and 2 January (11 days to go).
Tickets will include a travel pass, which lasts for one and a half hours both before and after each event on buses, night buses and trams, and international visitors can book special visitor packages through Innsbruck 2012 partner Proske.
Each application is limited to two tickets per person and per competition day, whilst outdoor events will not require tickets.
