Benjamin_Raich_IYOGOCAugust 9 - Innsbruck 2012 and Planet Tirol have teamed up to launch the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Video Contest, which gives participants the chance to win top prizes ahead of the Games in Austria next year.

The YOG Video Contest requires participants to create a 45 second video of themselves imitating an Olympic winter sport, without using the proper equipment for the discipline, and then post their video on the Planet Tirol website.

Budding movie stars can choose to imitate any of the 15 disciplines that will feature at the inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck.

These disciplines are alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, luge, short track, ski jumping, snowboard and speed skating.

"The contest is about imitating the winter disciplines of the Olympic Games in 45 seconds without using any of the usual equipment," said Innsbruck 2012 chief executive Peter Bayer.

"For those taking part it's all about getting creative."

All videos which are posted on the Planet Tirol website between now and September 11 this year and comply with the terms of participation will be part of the YOG Video Contest.

Then from September 12 until 25 this year; members of the public will have the chance to watch the videos on Planet Tirol and vote for their favourite with the three videos receiving the most votes set to secure top prizes.

First prize is a Raiffeisen-Club Tirol savings account complete with a balance of €1000 (£870) while second and third place will win an Innsbruck 2012 t-shirt hand-signed by Olympic and World Cup champion skier Benjamin Raich who is an ambassador for the event.

The event itself will take place in Austria from January 13 until 22 next year with total of 1,059 athletes aged 14 to 18 from over 60 nations set to compete in 63 medal events.
