Glasgow_2014_logoMarch 3 - Glasgow 2014 organisers are looking to fill the key position of Head of Sport Competition for the 20th Commonwealth Games, which will be held in the city in just over three years' time and is set to be the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland.


The role, which will be based in Glasgow, offers a salary of between £50,919 - £56,577 ($81,913 - $91,015) and includes responsibility for the integrated planning, delivery and management of all elements of sport competition for the Games.

At the moment, the Glasgow 2014 team consists of around 40 members but as the Commonwealth Games approach, this will grow to nearer 1,000.

The job descrpiton claims the key objectives of the job will be to: "Manage a series of internal and external relationships, including significant liaison with international and national sports bodies, technical officials and athletes, to ensure that all sport specific elements are integrated into Games wide planning.

"Glasgow 2014 will work closely with its partners and stakeholders to encourage women, black, Asian and minority ethnic people, and people with a disability, to apply for employment and volunteering opportunities with the Games.

"In the run up to Glasgow 2014 we will be recruiting people to work across a wide range of roles.

"We will be looking for talented and dedicated people to join the team and help deliver this outstanding event.

"We believe our people are key to the success of the Games, and that working for Glasgow 2014 offers a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting project which will be staged on a global arena."

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will run over 11 days of competition from July 24 to August 3, with 72 Commonwealth nations set to be in action and competing across 17 sports.
