LOCOG_2December 17 - All the official programmes for the 2012 Games will be produced and printed in the UK, it has been confirmed.

There will be official event programmes for both the Olympics and Paralympics, which will include articles about each Games and preview the athletes, sports and venues.

In addition, daily programmes will be available at venues during the Games.

These will focus more on each day's events and round-ups of the previous day's results.

There will also be programmes for each individual British match in the Olympic football competition, and a general football programme which will cover the rest of the tournament.

It is anticipated that approximately 2.5 million programmes will go on sale in 2012.

All programmes will be produced and printed by Haymarket Media Group, with contributions from top sports writers from all over the UK and the world.

All publications will be printed to FSC standards and will meet the sustainability standards of London 2012 as set in its sustainable sourcing code.

London 2012 commercial director Chris Townsend said: "Official programmes are a feature of many sporting events - and the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are no different.

"In generations to come they will be valued and, in some cases, valuable keepsakes leaving memories of these once-in-our-lifetime events.

"I'm particularly pleased that they will be written, designed and printed in the UK, demonstrating how the Games are truly benefiting UK plc."
