Adelaide in Australia has been given the rights to host the 2025 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach Volleyball World Championships.

The tournament will be held at the famed tennis venue named The Drive, with plans to bring 1000 cubic metres of sand to transform the venue.

This will be the first time Australia will host the Beach Volleyball World Championships.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) welcomed the announcement as it adds to the Green and Gold Runway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Adelaide hosting the 2025 Beach Volley World Championships is a fantastic addition to the Green and Gold Runway to Brisbane 2032,” AOC chief executive Matt Carroll said.

"This is another great opportunity for Australian athletes to compete in front of home crowds, taking on the best in the world and showing the world how Australia can put on a world class event.

"Young Australians will get the chance to see elite beach volleyballers, in person, and be inspired to chase their own Olympic dream.
