American singer Dolly Parton, one of the best-selling female artists of all time, and World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Roman Reigns have helped NBCUniversal  launch their build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Parton, Reigns and his "Special Counsel" Paul Heyman are joined by the "Minions" animated characters in a promotional video.

"They are offered unbelievable opportunities next summer only to turn them down because they have already saved the date to watch the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games," NBCUniversal said.

The film was shown for the first time during a new episode of Bravo’s "Top Chef World All-Stars" featuring Olympians and Paralympians taking part in a Paris themed show.

It is expected that other celebrities and personalities will be featured in additional promotional films throughout the summer.

The flagship TODAY programme is to be presented live from Paris by host Savannah Guthrie over the next two days.

World and Olympic women's 400 metres hurdles champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and 2022 men's world 200 metres gold medallist Noah Lyles are both set to appear.

Gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Shilese Jones, women's team gold medallists at the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool and Konnor McClain, a younger member of the squad, are also scheduled to appear.

Mike Tirico, who is expected to host the primetime NBC coverage from the Games next year is also billed to take part.

NBCUniversal is also setting up a partnership with "The Knot", a digital wedding planning group which has devised a wedding style webpage and social media to promote the coverage of the Games.

NBC first televised the 1964 Olympics to the United States and has broadcast every Summer Games since Seoul 1988.

“As we embark on an exciting year ahead, culminating in the highly anticipated Olympics and Paralympics in Paris, there is no better way to celebrate and remind people of the Games than with a star studded, cross-platform ‘Save the Date’ campaign that includes a strategic partnership with The Knot and unparalleled on-site coverage from TODAY," NBCUniversal chief entertainment and sports marketing officer Jenny Storms said.

"Utilising the power of NBCUniversal’s unprecedented portfolio, this bespoke campaign will bring to life a powerhouse roster of celebrities, in real life moments and stories that will resonate and generate excitement for the year ahead."

The Games are set to begin on July 26 2024 with an Opening Ceremony staged on the River Seine in the heart of Paris.

NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo will televise it live in the United States.
