Hosts Tunisia won six gold medals in the senior divisions at the Mediterranean Karate Championships in Tunis.

The host nation's successes at Salle Omnisport de Radès included Wafa Mahjoub in the women's under-61kg kumite.

African Games gold medallist Chehinez Jemi continued home success in the women's over-68kg and Tunisia also won the women's team titles in both kumite and kata.

Edin Choiya Houssem claimed success for Tunisia in the men's over-84kg, and the hosts then bagged the men's team kata title.

Algeria won four gold medals including Cylia Ouikene in the women's under-50kg.

Abdesslam Rouichi Naim won the men's under-60kg division and Fouad Benbara triumphed in the men's under-67kg.

Baha Eddine Zitouni Oussama won gold in the men's under-84kg.

Egypt won a pair of titles including Abdalla Hesham Abdelgawad in the men's under-75kg.

The Egyptians also prevailed in the men's team kumite.

Elsewhere, Spain's Paola García Lozano won the women's kata gold medal, with the men's kata going to Italian Alessio Ghinami.

Former world and European champion Alizée Agier of France triumphed in the women's under-68kg.

Gülsen Demirtürk of Turkey was crowned as women's under-55kg winner.

Cadet and junior competitions were also held in Tunis.

The next Mediterranean Karate Championships in 2025 have been awarded to Egypt.
