Heavy rain put a premature end to the third day of competition at the FISE Montpellier urban sports festival here on the banks of the River Lez.

The sudden downpour came crashing down in the evening, forcing a postponement of skateboarding and roller freestyle finals.

The women's skateboard street final was set to be the highlight of the day and following the semi-final yesterday anticipation was high.

Spain's Daniela Terol Mendez is favourite to reclaim the title after she posted the leading score of 46.71 in the previous round.

The 14-year-old remarkably won gold in 2019 against much older opponents before securing another podium finish last year in second place.

Jéromine Louvet is the main hope for the host nation.

The 21-year-old Frenchwoman came in behind Terol Mendez with 42.45 points to her name while another Spaniard in the form of Ivet Terol made up the top three.

The final is hoped to take place tomorrow but with a packed schedule and rain forecast for the afternoon the organisers potentially have a tough challenge.

The men's semi-final did take place however, just before the worst of the weather.

French duo Joseph Garbaccio, who bagged bronze last year, and Adrien Bulard led the way following their one-two in the qualification round.

However, Garbaccio fell to sixth in the semi-final which took place under a slight drizzle.

Brazil's Ivan Monteiro put in the best display as he tackled every obstacle on the park and produced an awe-inspiring nollie heel 270 to get the crowd going

Roller freestyle park finals for both men and women were the only other events forced to wait before crowning medallists.

France's Armelle Tisler has the weight of expectation on her shoulders from the home crowd.

She took bronze last time out and became European champion in the discipline in 2022.

FISE Montpellier is set to continue tomorrow with the new schedule featuring the women's BMX Freestyle World Cup final.
